1 pkg Devil's Food Cake Mix (plus the ingredients listed on the bos to make the cake)
1 T Butter or Margarine
1/2 pkg Milk Chocolate Chips (1 oz)
1 jar Caramel Ice Cream Topping (Mrs. Richardson's works best and tastes the best, I think!)
1/2 C Nuts, coarsely chopped (OPTIONAL)
Vanilla Ice Cream (OPTIONAL)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350*F. Prepare care mix according to package directions. Pour batter into cake pan and bake 30-35 minutes or until Cake Tester inserted in center comes out clean.
(OR...If you're using a pan that you can cook directly in the oven with...Melt butter in 12-inch NON-STICK skillet, tilting skillet to coat bottom. Gently pour batter over bottom of skillet, spreading evenly. Bake uncovered 30-35 minutes. Invert onto large, heat-safe serving plate.)
Melt chocolate chips and 1/2 the jar of caramel ice cream topping together in microwave until you can mix the two together and the mixture is smooth. Carefully spread the caramel/chocolate mixture over the HOT cake using a large spreader. Cut & serve.
Optional: Serve with chopped nuts and vanilla ice cream if desired.
